"As part of the strategy to develop a strong brand image for our products, Inland Concrete recently added four new branded products to our product line," explained Mike Smith, Area Manager, Southern Alberta, Inland Concrete Limited. HARD-WEAR (t) concrete, an innovative ready mix product, is one of the four mixes that Inland Concrete is now actively marketing. HARD-WEAR(t) concrete boasts numerous advantages, including increased abrasion and wear resistance. The mix is batched at the plant, ensuring uniform dispersion of the hardness and abrasion resistance throughout the full depth of the slab. In addition to its outstanding durability, HARD-WEAR(t) concrete is also highly versatile. "It can be used in both air-entrained and non-air-entrained mixes, which means that in addition to commercial and heavy industrial floors, the mix can also be used for exterior high-wear applications such as parkades, truck ramps and water-flow structures," said Smith. Placed and finished the same as standard concrete applications, HARD-WEAR(t) concrete eliminates the need to apply other labor-intensive hardeners. This product will eliminate inconsistencies, reduce placing labor, generate cost savings to owners and improve working environments. The mix is also available in a full range of strengths and is compatible with all finishing applications, current admixtures and sealers. "We have experienced great success with HARD-WEAR(t) concrete mixes on a number of projects, and to date have sold 1760 cubic meters," noted Smith. Recently, HARD-WEAR(t) concrete was used in both air-entrained and non-air-entrained mixes for a transit bus barn project for the City of Calgary. The city's transit engineers, project engineer and contractor provided very positive feedback on HARD-WEAR(t) concrete's performance. "Using Inland Concrete's HARD-WEAR(t) mix eliminates most of the problems caused by dry-shake mineral hardeners. Time and labor are minimized, finishing is easier and dust free, and the mix is highly adaptable as it is compatible with both air-entrained and non-air-entrained concrete," commented Bruce Brunette, President of Devitt & Forand Contractors Inc. Brunette went on to say, "The result is very consistent, abrasion resistant concrete that holds up to heavy use and abuse. At the end of the day, this is what clients want and what we strive to provide." "We are very excited about the new branded products and look forward to continued success with HARD-WEAR(t) concrete mixes," stated Smith. Archives
