North America - Lehigh Cement Company Take Your Child to Work Day Art Contest Winners

Each year Lehigh Cement Company's headquarters location in Allentown, PA hosts its own "Take Your Child to Work Day." Employees are encouraged to bring their school age children for a day of observation, activities and fun. The program in June 2004 included a tour of many departments in the headquarters building, videos about the cement and aggregates industry and building with concrete, and a presentation by a geologist dad about how limestone is mined.

Parents and children ate lunch together at a nearby picnic grove. The children also had a choice of several arts and crafts projects, including designing their own cement bag. Featured here (slideshow below) are winners of the art contests, judged by age group.

Several other Lehigh Cement Company locations, especially cement plants, also regularly welcome students for similar "Take Your Child to Work Day" events.
