Lehigh Cement Company has received an Arts Ovation Award from the Allentown (PA) Arts Commission for "Outstanding Contribution to the Arts" at its 2006 Arts Ovation Celebration. The Commission names winners each year to recognize excellence in the creative arts and service to the arts in the City of Allentown.
Lehigh Cement was chosen for their broad and consistent financial support of numerous arts organizations within Allentown, including the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, Allentown Art Museum, Baum School of Art, Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, Civic Theatre, Community Music School and Mayfair. In addition to making corporate donations, Lehigh Cement has a policy in place to match its employees' personal contributions to qualifying non-profit organizations. This has bolstered the support many Allentown arts organizations receive.
While accepting the award on behalf of the company, Jeff Brozyna, Sr. Vice President and General Counsel, told the audience that Lehigh Cement employees are proud to rally behind the vision statement: "Working together to build our communities."
"This doesn't mean only the literal type of building-which we do every day with our construction products," Brozyna said. "It also means that Lehigh Cement and its employees actively work to build and enhance the communities in which we live."
The Arts Ovation Awards, a program of the Allentown Arts Commission, concentrates solely on contributions to the creative and performing arts. It should be noted that Lehigh Cement Company also directs significant portions of its corporate philanthropy to education for students of all ages and to much-needed programs in the social services.
