Blended Cement

blast furnaceBlended cements contain combinations of portland cement, pozzolans, slag or other hydraulic cement. Depending on the constituents, blended cements can confer desirable qualities to concrete such as lighter color, workability, or low heat of hydration. Slag from steel making and fly ash from the power industry are two commonly added materials in blended cements. By putting waste to work, blended cements contribute to sustainable development. We've made blended cements for over 20 years.

ALLCEM® is a blended cement made with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS). ALLCEM® adds value to the concrete by enhancing workability and improving strength and durability.

InterCem® is our newest blended cement product made at our Edmonton cement plant. We make Intercem® by adding fly ash to the Portland cement clinker in the finish mill circuit. InterCem® has gained wide acceptance with selected internal customers and will also provide benefits in the construction, oil and gas market segments.

By recycling these by-products into cement and concrete, the Lehigh companies contribute to sustainable construction.
